” Long before acting or theatre happened to me, it was always music. I sang as a child and in college, and was part of a cappella groups and choirs on the side while I started working. Long before I realized I wanted to act, I thought of music as my only connection to the arts and secretly garnered this tiny hope of being able to sing professionally someday. I’m certain that the little girl who dreamed that then impossible dream is very happy today.”

It was always music, even before I had any experience with theatre or acting. Throughout my childhood and college years, I was a vocalist and participated in a cappella group and choir on the side while I started working. I considered music to be my only link to the arts long before I realised I wanted to act, and I harboured a tiny hope that one day I would be able to sing professionally. In 2020, Darshana’s maternal grandfather received the Padma Shri award in appreciation for his outstanding and noteworthy contributions to literature and education.
Darshana became enthralled with theatre while she was employed at the Institute of Financial Management and Research, and she participated in multiple plays. “Singing for me was always very personal,” she continued. Singing for myself and my loved ones is something I enjoy doing. It unexpectedly opened up to a lot more people after singing for a scene in Mayaanadhi and releasing a cover of the beautiful “Bawra Mann.” It was an honour to sing “Darshana,” the Hridayam song. Although I was pretty anxious about it, Hesham and Vineethettan (Vineeth Sreenivasan) tried to reassure me by recording me in Hesham’s home studio. I really relished the experience.
